How To Make Cocktails with Sorghum Rum + 5 Sorghum Rum Drink Recipes You’ll Love

Sorghum rum, like no other rum you’ve had before

The ultimate combination of history and flavor profile. Sorghum rum brings out the best in your favorite cocktails.

Try something none of your friends have in their bar cart. The history of Blairsville is spiced, sweet, and a bit crazy - just like this spirit.

There Are 3 Rums To Note - Dark Rum, Light Rum and Sorghum

So, what is rum? Plain and simple - rum is a spirit distilled from sugar and is 80 proof or above.

Dark Rum - aged before filtering and bottling, the longer it’s aged the darker it becomes.

White Rum - packaged right after the fermentation process is complete. It’s the same strength as dark rum and is not stored before being bottled.

Sorghum Rum uses sorghum grain and molasses rather than sugar to produce a spirit most similar to dark rum with a unique flavor profile.

At the GDM bar, we love to use sorghum rum to create tasty and one-of-a-kind cocktails. Our rum is vanilla-forward with the perfect balance of sweetness and spice.

Back in the bootlegging days, anyone acquiring mass amounts of sugar was seen as suspicious to the authorities, so they turned to the local sorghum grains to keep makin’ liquor without causing too much attention.

The sorghum used in GDM’s Sorghum Rum comes from a local sorghum farm in North GA, so you know you’re getting a true Georgia local product and a piece of Blairsville’s history.

Blairsville has a history of sorghum and bootlegging and Sorghum rum combines our roots better than anything else.
